Position Available: Full Time Middle School English and Language Arts/Social Studies Teacher

Grey Nun Academy is conducting a search for a full time middle school English/Language Arts/Writing/Social Studies teacher for the 2017-2018 school year. Founded in 1963 by the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart, Grey Nun Academy is the Catholic, independent co-educational elementary school in Bucks County, PA for children in grades PreK3 through Eighth grade. The Academy offers an academically rich curriculum that meets the unique needs of individual students, respecting the rights, interests, and dignity of each child. GNA welcomes children of all faiths and cultures. The school's educational process leads children to embrace and promote peace and social justice in our world.

The English/Language Arts (ELA) and Social Studies (SS) program aims to develop reading, writing, speaking, grammar, spelling, and vocabulary skills. In addition students must study a broad span of literary genres in order to prepare them for placement in independent high schools. Our ELA curriculum should align with social studies to build a humanities bridge between ELA and social studies. The middle school ELA curriculum should build on the elementary division’s Balanced Literacy concepts.

Ideal candidates are those who seek to partner with parents, collaborate with colleagues, demonstrate a commitment to professional growth, motivate students academically, and support students in developing their moral character. Candidates must understand and implement differentiated instruction and 21st century skills, as well as have an understanding and ability to respond to the unique needs of middle school students. Additionally, the ideal candidate must understand and appreciate the unique needs and overall development of early adolescents.

Preferred Professional Qualifications:

  • Active Teacher Certification required with previous middle school teaching experience and ability to manage a classroom with differentiated instruction
  • A bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education or an English, writing, or literature related degree. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • A love of literature and history, and an interest in academic writing and the ability to convey research writing skills to students as well as an deep understanding of traditional grammar
  • Familiarity with independent school culture with a faith based mission and an interest in leading co-curricular activities
  • Knowledge of authentic, age-appropriate technology integration using GAFE

Position Available: Full Time Spanish Teacher – PreK to 8th Grades

Grey Nun Academy seeks a dedicated and dynamic Spanish teacher with a minimum of 3 years of current experience and active teacher certification. The teacher will be responsible for designing curriculum, planning lessons, and working closely with the Head of School and colleagues to ensure alignment of the school’s philosophy in curriculum and practices. Candidates must have superior teaching skills, excellent writing skills and strong verbal communication. The ability to be collaborative, detail-oriented and innovative is essential. Teachers dedicated to meeting the academic and personal needs of the students and collaborating with colleagues and parents are encouraged to apply for the position; active teacher certification is required. Previous relevant and Catholic school teaching and technology (Google Certification) experience preferred.

4th Grade Classroom Teacher – September until teacher returns from maternity leave

GNA seeks experienced elementary educators with active teacher’s certification and a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree. The strongest candidate will have experience with a balanced literacy approach, the ability to create/implement lessons for a range of learners and an advanced level of skill using G Suite for Education. We look for candidates who demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and strong interpersonal communication skills.

Position Available Immediately: Substitute Nurse

Grey Nun Academy seeks professional substitute nurses for our Health Office for all grade levels in our PreK3 through 8th grade school. Candidates must be motivated and enjoy working in an educational environment. The School Nurse is responsible for developing and maintaining GNA’s health policies and programs. The primary role is to provide health services to the students. The School Nurse must work collaboratively and communicate effectively with all members of the GNA community.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a license as a Registered Nurse
  • License as a School Nurse by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania - preferred
  • Certification in AED, Epipen, First Aid and CPR
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in school health nursing, pediatric nursing, community/public health nursing, or other relevant clinical nursing experience
  • Ability to work as a team member with administrators, faculty, staff, parents, students, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Excellent technology skills
