Students Earn $76,000 in Scholarships for Academic Excellence
May 30, 2017 -- Yardley, PA –Grey Nun Academy (GNA), an independent, Catholic, coeducational elementary school in Bucks County, PA, announced today that its graduating eighth grade class has been awarded $76,000 in academic scholarships, as well as placement in numerous honors and advanced courses at a number of top area private high schools.
Students at Grey Nun Academy gain an educational advantage in the school’s Upper Division (6-8) Honors and College Prep course curriculum that prepares them for honors placement in high school English/Language Arts, Math, Spanish, and Science courses. Together with The Academy’s small class sizes, strong technology platform, and focus on leadership, public speaking, study, and time management skills, students move on to high school placements in advanced programs that allow them to accelerate their pace of learning.
"Grey Nun Academy doesn't simply look for scholarships as a mark of achievement,” noted Head of School Deborah Kost. “A large percentage of our graduates place out of Algebra I and Spanish I. Our curriculum teaches these courses in the upper division, so that our students are not only prepared for the rigors of high school, but so that they are already ahead of where they need to be when entering these academically advanced high schools."
With the knowledge gained and foundation formed at Grey Nun Academy, students are prepared to take on challenges and excel academically and socially at all top area high schools.
“As the only private Catholic elementary school in Bucks County, our Academy, through our faculty and students, represents the culmination of 53 years of inspired teaching sponsored by the Grey Nuns of the Sacred Heart,” said Sandy Trezza, Dean of Academic and Student Affairs. “We are proud and pleased that our eighth graders are gaining these monetary accolades that will be utilized to further their academic success in high school and college. We will continue to monitor their progress as they become leaders within their generation.”
Kost added: “Our advanced curriculum is focused on preparing our students for academic success in high school, college, and beyond. We are so proud of our students’ achievements and wish them the very best in the years ahead.”
