Grey Nun Academy Named Best Private School Finalist For Third Year In A Row On Bucks Happening's "Happening List"

Grey Nun Academy Kindergarten Teacher Also Named Finalist for Best Teacher for Third Time

April 1, 2018 -- Yardley, PA -- Grey Nun Academy, an independent, Catholic, elementary school serving students in PreK through eighth grade, captured two finalist awards in the category of “Best Private School” and “Best Teacher” in Bucks County, PA from the Bucks Happening list, a popular people’s choice competition in the region.

For the third year in a row, both the Academy itself and the Academy's Kindergarten teacher, Mary Beth McGinty, were selected to represent the best the area has to offer in elementary education.

Bucks Happening conducted an online listing for area private schools and submissions were tabulated with five area finalists selected. They conducted an online contest which offered schools an opportunity for their constituents to vote for their choice of the best in the county. To ensure fairness and accuracy in “The Happening List” competition, an extensive audit process was in place while calculating the results. Each year, thousands of area participants vote to determine their favorites in multiple categories during the contest.

Deborah Kost, Head of School at Grey Nun Academy, was happy to learn news of the results. “To be recognized for a third consecutive year is a true testament to our school and our teachers. Grey Nun Academy is dedicated to living its mission every day – providing a superior education that celebrates the whole child – mind, heart, body, and spirit. Our teachers light the way for students to begin and complete their PreK-8 grade journey, discover their potential, and become lifelong learners. Our teachers are compassionate and dedicated, and Mary Beth McGinty is deserving of this recognition once again. She has been teaching at Grey Nun Academy for 33 years and continues to bring joy to the learning experience for every student. We are proud and grateful to have her on staff as she not only educates our young students, but also serves as a mentor for other teachers within our community."

“Once again, I am honored and humbled to be named a finalist in the Best Teacher category on the Bucks Happening List,” says Mary Beth McGinty. “Thank you for your votes and more importantly, your support and confidence in me as a dedicated teacher for 33 years at Grey Nun Academy.”

“I embrace the mission of Grey Nun Academy by ‘integrating learning with faith and action, while nurturing and encouraging the unique gifts found in each person.’ I am proud to be part of a community that has a long standing commitment to academic excellence as well as a commitment to fostering a sense of competence and worth in each child. I am one link in a long chain of talented educators at Grey Nun Academy who partner with parents for the well-being of their children,” added McGinty.

Grey Nun Academy is pleased to continue to be recognized for its excellence in the community. In addition to being a finalist in the Bucks Happening contest, the Academy was named “Best Private School” in the Bucks County Courier Times “Best Of” contest in 2017.
