Student Test Scores Rank in Top Ten Percent of the Nation
Terra Nova Test Scores Verify Student Academic Success
August 25, 2016 -- Yardley, PA -- Grey Nun Academy (GNA), an independent, Catholic elementary school in Bucks County, PA for students PreK3 through eighth grade, announced today that student Terra Nova testing scores rank them within the top ten percent of the nation.
Beginning in the second grade, an academic template comes into view. That is the first year of national Terra Nova testing for Catholic affiliated schools across the country. This standardized testing procedure continues through the eighth grade to assess student subject knowledge and learning progress. Over the past five years, this measure of student learning affirms the success and advantage in educational outcomes that occur at Grey Nun Academy.
Grey Nun Academy students have consistently exceeded the Terra Nova testing scores of the Philadelphia and suburban Archdiocesan Schools in all grade levels by a substantial margin. Their academic achievements, as measured by these tests, rank them well above their peers and confirm the strength of the academic program at Grey Nun Academy.
Grey Nun Academy students are high achievers. Upon graduation, they continue to excel at top area high schools. “This is due to both a strong academic program and a strong values-based spiritual foundation that is learned here,” says Enrollment Director, Lisa Grabowski. “And if you continue to track the trajectory of Grey Nun Academy students, you'll appreciate that they attend several of the most discerning and academically rigorous colleges and universities in the nation.”
“Our student Terra Nova scores are proof that our educational process is top-notch. Grey Nun Academy students continue yearly to outperform students from other public, parochial, or private schools in our region; they rank among the top10% in the entire nation,” continued Lisa Grabowski."
The value of the academic program at Grey Nun Academy is verified with student progress as they leave the Academy and go on to further accomplishments upon graduation. “Other area high school administrators confirm this,” says Head of School Deborah Kost. “I recently received a letter from a colleague at a high school where several of our students matriculated that makes me proud of the learning that occurs at our Academy.”
“Villa Joseph Marie High School has enjoyed a long and rewarding relationship with Grey Nun Academy,” says Principal Lauren Carr. “The students who have come to Villa from Grey Nun have always exceeded our expectations both inside and outside of the classroom. Grey Nun graduates are natural leaders, diligent students, supportive teammates, and devoted servers in the church and community. It is evident that they were educated in an environment which fosters the whole student and values learning as a lifelong process.”
Deborah Kost, Head of School at Grey Nun Academy, was pleased but not surprised by the Terra Nova test results. “Our school is an exceptional learning environment,” she says. “We make certain to provide a superior education that celebrates the whole child – mind, heart, body, and spirit. Our school community is dedicated to living its mission every day. Our teachers are compassionate and committed. They bring joy to the learning experience. From Pre-Kindergarten to Eighth Grade, GNA faculty lights the way for young students to begin their academic journey and discover their potential. We are proud and grateful to have such a talented cadre of teachers that these Terra Nova test scores verify as quality educators preparing our students for success and achievement.”
Additionally, Grey Nun Academy announced that it will offer tuition scholarship grants to Bucks County area students enrolling for the 2016-2017 academic year. These scholarship grants will be awarded to new students in all grades levels at the Academy who meet the criteria and will cover a significant portion of tuition.
