Teacher Feature: Liz Cannon

Mrs. Liz Cannon (School Counselor and Eighth Grade Homeroom Teacher) is this week's featured teacher in our series: A Visit to the Teacher's Lounge! Here, we ask Grey Nun Academy faculty to answer seven questions about themselves to help our community get to know them better.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A TEACHER/COUNSELOR?

Every day is totally different from the one before! There is rarely a dull moment, and I like to be kept on my toes!

DO YOU HAVE A "MOTTO?"

If your hopes and dreams don’t scare you, then they aren’t big enough.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AS A TEACHER/COUNSELOR?

I want to help all students realize their full potential academically, socially and emotionally. I want them to use that potential to affect others in positive ways - to be good role models, develop sound morals, and to realize that everything will be okay in the end. If it’s not okay, then it’s not the end.

WHAT IS ONE THING A TEACHER SAID/DID THAT YOU HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN?

The words “what” and “if” are two non-threatening words. But, if you put them together side by side, they have the power to haunt you for the rest of your life.

WHAT IS THE GREATEST SUCCESS YOU'VE HAD IN TEACHING/COUNSELING?

Knowing that I have personally played a part in affecting the life of another human being.

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING FOR ENJOYMENT?

Only Child by Rhiannon Navin

WHAT IS A LITTLE-KNOWN/UNIQUE FACT ABOUT YOU?

I’ve been skydiving - and I’m going again soon!

Mrs. Cannon earned her B.S. in Psychology from Franklin & Marshall College and a M.S. in School Counseling from Gwynedd Mercy University.
