Teacher Feature: Ms. Alexandra Law '10

Ms. Alexandra Law '10 (Second Grade Lead Teacher) is this week's featured teacher in our series: A Visit to the Teacher's Lounge! Here, we ask Grey Nun Academy faculty to answer seven questions about themselves to help our community get to know them better.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE THING ABOUT BEING A TEACHER?

I love getting my students excited about learning. Seeing my students fully engaged in discussion about class topics is truly fulfilling. I love that teaching allows me to think creatively when approaching instruction, encouraging students to grow passionate about learning.

DO YOU HAVE A TEACHING "MOTTO?"

Be somebody who makes everybody feel like somebody.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS AS A TEACHER?

One of my goals is to continually challenge each student to think deeper about what they are learning. I want to give them authentic learning experiences that push them to explore what they are learning through active questioning and discussion.

WHAT IS ONE THING A TEACHER SAID/DID THAT YOU HAVE NEVER FORGOTTEN?

Leave things better than you found them.

WHAT IS THE GREATEST SUCCESS YOU'VE HAD IN TEACHING?

I once had a student tell me, "You are one of those special people. The kind that I feel like I can talk to."

WHAT ARE YOU CURRENTLY READING FOR ENJOYMENT?

Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte

WHAT IS A LITTLE-KNOWN/UNIQUE FACT ABOUT YOU?

I can speak broken French and I am also a 2010 Grey Nun Academy graduate!

Ms. Law holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from The Catholic University of America.
