STEM: Science, Technology, Engineering and Math
Not only are STEM topics incorporated into the science curriculum at GNA, but a dedicated class period per week for each grade in Middle School is scheduled as well. Students work in teams and are challenged to create solutions to problems such as engineering a vehicle, designing a pipeline with the ability to transport materials, and creating structures that meet specific engineering criteria.
This project-based learning is extended by student participation in various regional competitions, notably the Philadelphia Regional Future City Competition and the STEM K’Nex Design Challenge of Bucks County.
Blended Learning Through Technology
Grey Nun Academy offers cutting-edge technology learning opportunities that are second to none in the region.
Interactive white boards in every classroom support the integration of technology across the curriculum to meet the challenge of technological complexity in today’s society. Instruction is focused to meet students at their level, supporting advanced as well as on-target learning.
Students in grades 3rd - 8th experience a 1:1 Chromebook ratio and students in grades PreK to grade 2 work with iPads to further support student learners of the 21st century.
For students interested in extending their love of STEM, the Academy offers after-school enrichment classes that further develop their love of science, technology, engineering, and math in many forms. Children have fun while developing new skills, and collaborating on group projects.
By the time Grey Nun Academy students graduate, they are more than ready for what comes next. These confident, well-educated and well-balanced young people are fully prepared for the rigors of diverse high schools -- public and private, religious, and secular.
